Our Mission

Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

Our Vision

Women and girls have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and live their dreams.

We will share our time, talents and financial resources to enrich our communities.

Together we will:

  1. Improve the lives of women and girls

  2. Help women achieve economic and political equality

  3. Serve as a global voice for women

  4. Provide outstanding leadership development opportunities for women

  5. Enhance world peace and understanding

More than 80,000 Soroptimists in over 130 countries and territories support community–based and global projects benefiting women and girls. The organization is particularly concerned with providing women and girls access to education, as this is the most effective path to self-determination.

The name, Soroptimist, means 'best for women', and that's what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best.

Soroptimist members belong to local clubs. Our local club is Soroptimist International of Salt Lake.  Clubs belong to geographic regions.  Our Region is Peaks to Plains Region.
Soroptimists participate in Soroptimist International of the Americas programs including our signature DREAM programs: the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award and Dream It - Be It Career Support for Girls. We support the Soroptimist Workplace Campaign to End Domestic Violence and Soroptimists STOP Trafficking.

Soroptimist also sponsors Live Your Dream.org, an online community empowering offline volunteer action.  This self-motivated network is made up of people who wish to support women and girls in their quest to lead better lives, while gaining inspiration in their own lives. Members of the free online community work on topics such as women’s economic empowerment, ending violence against women, human trafficking, and more.  They also have access to inspirational articles, tips, and blogs that can help them live their own personal dreams.
