This Year's Winners:
Mary Anne and Alicia
Mary Anne registered
at Glendale Middle School late in the year due
to some serious health issues – she is one of 8
children in her family and has been diagnosed
with Lupus, which means many visits to the
hospital and missed school. In spite of this
Mary Anne has managed to not only catch up with
her work but to excel in all areas of academics,
carrying a 3.58 GPA at the end of the first
semester.
Mary Anne is compassionate, considerate and is
applauded for her courage and dedication to
education and to living life to its fullest.
Even when there are circumstances that are
beyond her control, she accepts them with
dignity and is an example of excellence to all
those who have the good fortune to know her.
Alicia has made remarkable improvement from the
7th grade, during which her grades were
suffering. This year she is a straight A student
with a 3.8 GPA. She is working to qualify for a
4 year grant to college which is available to
all 8th graders at Glendale Middle School who
keep their grades up and graduate from high
school. This grant offers a full scholarship to
college for 4 years provided these students
qualify. Alicia is working hard to meet this
goal. She is very friendly and all the students
and leaders love her.
We are very proud to offer this year’s Awards
these deserving young ladies. Both girls were
also given a $100 U.S. Savings Bond.
